When renting a car from our agency, drivers often have questions about whether insurance is included in the total rental payment.

Before taking the wheel of your rental vehicle, it is essential to understand the potential consequences in case of an accident, taking into account the terms of the rental contract that you have read, approved, and signed.

To provide you with a transparent and secure experience, we present in detail the two insurance packages offered by Teamcar, allowing you to travel in complete peace of mind throughout Tunisia.

1. Third-Party Insurance Package: Deductible Required

This package is the default insurance provided to clients renting a car with Teamcar. It represents the type of insurance commonly used by most car rental companies in Tunisia. It covers damage to the vehicle, including material damages in case of an accident.

It also protects you against car theft, provided the keys are not lost. The package covers bodily injuries (hospitalization, rehabilitation, etc.) and damages to passengers, whether they are pedestrians or inside a vehicle.

This package does not cover tire damages or skidding due to excessive speed. For all other material damages, coverage is limited by a deductible. The deductible amount varies depending on the car model: for economy and compact models, it starts at €600, while for luxury models it can go up to €3,000.

Regardless of the damages incurred during the rental, three scenarios may occur:

  • Case 1: You are at fault and have completed an accident report
    If the damages are less than the deductible, we return the difference. Purchase and repair invoices are used as proof. If the damages exceed the deductible, we are obliged to retain the full deposit, while trying to reach an amicable solution to resolve any disputes.
  • Case 2: You are at fault and did not complete an accident report
    The same rules as Case 1 apply.
  • Case 3: You are not at fault and have completed an accident report
    Upon submission of a duly completed amicable accident report (see bottom of page), we cover all repair costs and return the full deposit upon vehicle return.
  • Case 4: You are not at fault and no accident report is submitted
    The same rules as Case 1 apply.

2. Teamcar Comprehensive Insurance Package

Our exclusive comprehensive insurance package is available on request for your Teamcar rental in the following cases:

  • Rental periods exceeding 15 days
  • Luxury high-end vehicles (VW Passat, Mercedes E200, etc.)

This complete insurance provides full protection against all potential damages, ensuring total peace of mind throughout the rental period.

For only an additional €100 per day (including taxes), you benefit from extended coverage, which includes material damages, accidents, and civil liability in case of an incident.

Whether you are at fault or not, whether an accident report is completed or not, you will not be held responsible for any damage-related costs. With this package, no deposit is required for the rental. However, please note that the extra payment is non-refundable if no accident occurs, as it guarantees full coverage for driving under any circumstances.

Procedure in case of an incident: Mandatory amicable settlement report

In the event of an accident, whether you are at fault or not, it is mandatory to complete an amicable accident report outlining the cause of the accident. A blank copy is always available in the glove compartment of the rental car.

Instructions on how to fill out the report are provided on the back of the document. In case of an incident, you must contact our 24/7 support service on (+216) 29 762 020.

Failure to submit this report to the agency, whether due to loss, oversight, or any other reason, automatically voids all insurance rights and obliges the client to cover all repair costs.
